lightbox2 plugin to show images in WordPress

Usage

Using lightbox2, just add string rel=”lightbox” in … tag, such as,

rel=”lightbox”>

or, add rel=”lightbox[nnn]“

nnn can be any number, but it should be same in a group of images.

Optional: Use the title attribute if you want to show a caption.

Installation

To do a new installation of the plugin, please follow these steps

1. Download the zipped plugin file to your local machine.
2. Unzip the file.
3. Upload the lightbox-2 folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
4. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
5. Optionally, go to the Options page and select a new Lightbox colour scheme.

If you have already installed the plugin

1. De-activate the plugin.
2. Download the latest files.
3. Follow the new installation steps.

sync tool on Windows XP

Everybody uses USB memory or disk today. We copy large files into them, or read and modify some files in them. If not stop USB memory/disk properly, changes or files copied maybe lost.

Introduction
UNIX provides a standard utility called Sync, which can be used to direct the operating system to flush all file system data to disk in order to insure that it is stable and won’t be lost in case of a system failure. Otherwise, any modified data present in the cache would be lost. Here is a an equivalent that I wrote, called Sync, that works on all versions of Windows. Use it whenever you want to know that modified file data is safely stored on your hard drives. Unfortunately, Sync requires administrative privileges to run. This version also lets you flush removable drives such as ZIP drives.

Using Sync
Usage: sync [-r] [-e] [drive letter list]

-r Flush removable drives.

-e Ejects removable drives.

Specifying specific drives (e.g. “c e”) will result in Sync only flushing those drives.

How to add “DOS Command” in your right menu

1. Create a new .reg file, like dos.reg

2. edit .reg file created, add following lines.

3. save the .reg file

4. double click .reg file to run it

5. right click to test “DOS Command” function

WinMD5 is my first choice to calculate hash string, because it’s a green freeware and very little size.

The new version is V2.0.7, released in March 2006.

I use version V1.0 for a long time, it’s copied into my several PCs.

WinMD5 a free Windows (98, XP, 2000) utility for computing the MD5 hashes (“fingerprints”) of files. These fingerprints can be used to ensure that your file is uncorrupted.

About WinMD5

If you’ve downloaded a large file over the internet, perhaps the latest RedHat CDs, you may have wondered if your download completed correctly. Are the copies on my machine exactly the same as the ones on the server?

MD5 is the name of a “hashing” algorithm which can answer this question. MD5 hashes are fingerprints of files. You can compare the fingerprints of two files to see if the files themselves are the same.

In order to be useful, you have to know what the correct fingerprint for a file is… otherwise, you cannot tell if your file is right or not. If you’re downloading a large file, look for a file named “MD5SUM”, or something similar. This file contains the correct fingerprints. Dragging an MD5SUM file onto WinMD5 causes the fingerprints to be compared automatically.

This program allows you to compute the MD5 hashes of files. It also makes it very easy to compare the fingerprints against the correct fingerprints stored in an MD5SUM file. RedHat, for example, provides MD5SUM files for all of its large downloadable

PathCopy software — function in right menu

Right Click and select “Copy Path ……”, it’s a very useful and simple function, but Windows XP doesn’t provide.

If you like, search keyword “PathCopy” using google or baidu, lots of freeware can be found.

I used PathCopyEx for several years. The software author is Mike Lin whose website is http://www.mlin.net. But I cann’t open his website.

PathCopyEx is only 87KB, and .msi format.

The best FTP client you should install–Filezilla

I like Filezilla, because it has both Windows version and Linux version. FTP sites can Imported/Exported between the two OS platform. The XML file exported can be modified by a text editor, such as Notepad.exe or gedit.

Just record something changed of PEKING University in 2008,

1. Only students of PEKING University can walk in the University. If you want to visit it, sorry, you don’t have student ID, please get out. “Who give it the right to do this?”, “Is it our proud university any more?”

2. Only this year’s graduates of high school can study in it, if passed college test. If failed in this year’s test, bye-bye, you have no right to study in PEKING University any more.

PEKING University isn’t a private University, even it is, those things may be ridiculous.

ZoomIt v2.2

Althought knew “Sysinternals Suite” several years ago, I had never tested ZoomIt, which is part of “Sysinternals Suite“, the last one. To know ZoomIt was in a training class, our tutor gave us a lively show using it.

Sysinternals Suite is owned by Microsoft now.

If you want to emphasize something in your presentation, ZoomIt is very useful tool.

It’s green software, only 126KB.

Introduction

ZoomIt is screen zoom and annotation tool for technical presentations that include application demonstrations. ZoomIt runs unobtrusively in the tray and activates with customizable hotkeys to zoom in on an area of the screen, move around while zoomed, and draw on the zoomed image. I wrote ZoomIt to fit my specific needs and use it in all my presentations.

ZoomIt works on all versions of Windows and you can use pen input for ZoomIt drawing on tablet PCs.
Using ZoomIt

The first time you run ZoomIt it presents a configuration dialog that describes ZoomIt’s behavior, let’s you specify alternate hotkeys for zooming and for entering drawing mode without zooming, and customize the drawing pen color and size. I use the draw-without-zoom option to annotate the screen at its native resolution, for example. ZoomIt also includes a break timer feature that remains active even when you tab away from the timer window and allows you to return to the timer window by clicking on the ZoomIt tray icon.
